Rogue Traders

We have been made aware of incidents in Devon of rogue traders knocking on doors and suggesting work needs carrying out on the owners roof.  These people are giving the false impression of being a local reputable company making it difficult to instantly recognise as a rogue trader.  Advice from the Local Authority, Devon and Cornwall Police and Trading Standards is not to employ anyone knocking on your door touting for business.

I would like to make you aware of a large number of bus service changes that Stagecoach are implementing on Sunday 3rd September 2023.  The changes are mostly positive as they show signs towards growing the bus network back again, following the service frequency reductions in 2022.  The enhancements are funded from the Department for Transport’s post COVID recovery grants.  All the service improvements have the potential to achieve long term sustainability if patronage increases.  This is why it is even more important that over the next two years we all play our part to promote bus usage in our communities.

The list of changes is long and can be found on Stagecoach’s website - https://www.stagecoachbus.com/promos-and-offers/south-west/south-west-timetables  As you scroll down the web page, click the “show more” tab to open up the complete list.

This briefing note is addressed (on a BCC basis) to Devon County Councillors, City/Town Councils, Parish Councils and other stakeholders for areas with bus services that are changing.  We usually present a list of changes within the body of the email, but the list of changes is very long, so on this occasion we are signposting to the Stagecoach website so that you can focus on the detail for your area.

Let me know if any questions arise from this.

Kind regards

Michael Tucker
